Starting Sunday September 6th, Pastor James will begin a study through the book of Titus titled “Dear Pastor”.  Prepare your heart to receive the teaching by reading through the book and praying for James to teach under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

You won’t want to miss this teaching from God’s Word.

a new chapter

Posted: August 26, 2009 by James Douglas in From the Pastor's Desk, Information

Hi Everybody!

Let me start by saying “Thank You!”

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to serve you as pastor. I am honored, humbled, and count myself privileged to serve our fellowship in this new capacity. You will never know what your prayers and support have meant to Holly and me during this time of transition.  We love Open Door and we are more excited than ever to see what God has in store for us!

As we all make this transition together it is vital that we stay focused on what the Lord has called us to be as a church and as individuals.

First, we have been called to be a Bible centered church. The last thing the world needs is another church centered on a man’s personality or popular opinion. God’s Word will be our lamp; His Word will be our guide, and it is our prayer that the Holy Spirit will guide us and teach us as we look to God’s Word to be our standard in all that we do.

Second, we are called to be worshipping disciples. We were created to walk in fellowship and intimacy with our Creator. When we make much of Jesus Christ by living lives of worship as Romans 12 describes, we fulfill this call to be worshipping disciples.

Thirdly, we are called to take the message of Christ to our community and to the world. Matthew 28:18 and 19 are our mandate.  To make Jesus known is our mission. There is absolutely nothing greater than knowing Christ in a way that transforms your life, and our job is to make sure people know it!

Finally, let me say from the outset, Open Door is Jesus Christ’s church, it always has been and always will be His church. Matthew 16:18 tells us that Christ will build his church and that there is nothing Hell can do to stop Him. Wow! What a promise! It’s with that assurance we walk thru the open door God has set before us (Rev. 3:8).

I’m looking forward to this new chapter in our church’s life. It’s with great expectations we will move forward, not because of what we will do, but because we serve a Great King.

I Love You All,
James
